■ A wide-angle is useful for landscapes. A telephoto for wildlife

Improving your photography skills and have a fantastic time doing so.
■ You need to learn how to use your camera properly before hitting the road or getting on a plane. How various settings and modes will deliver the results you want. Fast moving wildlife is ideal in Shutter priority mode, Aperture priority is essential for macro and landscape photography. You need to know about exposure compensation in white, bright snow & beach scenes, about focussing points to isolate a monk in a crowded market scene. A quality smartphone will deliver outstanding results and be unobtrusive in a crowded Indian market, a drone is perfect for capturing Australia's stunning coastline.

■ Knowledge is power. You are spending a huge amount for a trip of a lifetime - a cruise to Antarctica, an African wildlife safari, a cultural tour on the Silk Road. You have some good gear. Its not good to not know the essentials about travel photography and more about the conditions you will encounter - the weather, restrictions & local laws, the best time of day, an idea of what you want to photograph. This course will fast track you into the world of travel photography

Is the course suitable for me?
■ Suitable for everyone. For any traveller at whatever skill level they are at. The detailed notes are pertinent for any traveller. The practical workshops at various location demonstrate various tips such as reflections & starbursts. The tips on light and composition are relevant for any photographer.

How many people will be on my course?
■ A maximum of 8 persons for a highly personalised learning experience. This ensures plenty of one on one attention

■ However we do cater for larger groups bringing in other tutors and splitting the groups into teams. Talk to us about your special requirements such as a 'team building' Travel Photography course for a government organisation or company.

What about accommodation, transport and food?
Inclusions:

■ Transportation in our Toyota Prado 4WD or similar or a minibus (depending on numbers) for the weekend.
■ You of course are welcome to use your own vehicle for transportation throughout the weekend
■ Comprehensive photographic instruction from 2 professional photographers
■ Detailed photography notes

Exclusions:
■ Accommodation.This is a busy time due to Margaret River events always happening. Accommodation books out quickly! We have a list of places which we can recommend. We personally stay to Bushy Lakes Chalets . Good value and they have fireplaces
■ Meals are not included over the 2 days
■ Insurance - it is strongly recommended that you have an insurance policy in case of accidents
■ Items of a personal nature and alcohol

Do I have the right camera gear for this weekend course?
■ This course is suitable for amateurs and hobbyists to serious semi-pro photographers alike  



■ Any full or cropped frame DSLR camera, mirrorless camera, quality compact or smartphone is ideal. Full frame cameras with their bigger sensors will give better results if for instance you are on a Namibian landscape oriented holiday 

■ A wide angle lens eg 16-35mm (on a full frame camera) ,10-22mm (on a cropped sensor camera); a telephoto lens eg. 70-300mm or 70-200mm; a mid range lens eg 24-105mm or 28-70mm. A 50mm f1.8  is small, cheap and great to have in your kit. Although lenses like the 18-270mm appear to be good as an all-rounder travel lens they can be soft at the wide angle end

■ An on-camera flash unit is useful if you are travelling light

■ You do not need an external flash for this course. If weight is not a problem such as in a 4WD Outback adventure - then throw in an external Speedlite flash and your heavy lenses. If you are travelling around Europe and want to travel light - take a quality compact and/or a lighter mirrorless camera system

■ We highly recommend you bring a smartphone on this course. A perfect travel companion to grab those impromptu shots or to take great images in their own right. We can also share images around using Bluetooth
■ We cater for drone photography. Its a perfect location for flying drones with stunning seascapes, wineries etc . We will show you how do take better stills & video with your drone

■ You do not need a tripod for this course. On the road take a lightweight tripod, beanbag or a Gorillapod 

■ Memory Card(s): we recommend at least an 8 GB card for this 7 hour course (on the road take lots of memory cards)

Some of the great locations and wineries visited include Aravina winery, Swallow winery, Watershed Winery, Voyager Estate, Hay Shed Hill Winery, Margaret River Chocolate Company, Olio Bello Olive Oil Company, Margaret River Dairy Company, Redgate Beach Blowholes, Hamelin Bay, Boranup Forest, Limestone caves, Canal Rocks, Sugarloaf Rocks, Leeuwin- Naturaliste National Park, Cape Leeuwin National Park, Margaret River, Prevelly, Gnarabup and Yallingup. On every course we discover another location gem or winery and are totally flexible as to where we go.

What are the terms & conditions when booking this course?
Payments
Paying for your course in full upon booking will confirm your attendance. Places are limited on all courses.

Refunds
We reserve the right to cancel and reschedule any course, due to inadequate enrolment, bad weather, instructor illness, an 'act of God' or a force majeure such as a pandemic. As an example, a photography course has to be cancelled or deferred to another date and time due to Covid 19 border closures and lockdowns which is beyond the control of Focus 10 Pty Ltd and other related parties. We also reserve the right to cancel any course if there is insufficient demand, especially if it means that our costs would be higher than our income. Please therefore do not leave it until the last few weeks if you are interested in a particular date, as you may find that it has been cancelled. As our costs for each training event remain the same no matter how many delegates attend, like any pre-booked tickets for the theatre, concert, flights etc, we are unable to give a full refund in the event of non-attendance, regardless of the circumstances. If withdrawal occurs within the 14 days before the course starts we will try to put you on an alternative date if places are available. Please note that we cannot be liable for any other costs incurred by yourself, so please check with us before booking any non-refundable accommodation or transport.

Workshop Photography:
We reserve the right to take photographic, (both still and video) records of any of our workshops/courses which may be used for promotional purposes, submissions, advertising and records. We grant permission for participants to use any images captured by them during this workshop for self-promotion only. Participants may not make any financial gain from any images captured during this workshop/course.
