■ Action dog photography is hard! Shooting fast moving dogs is ideal in Shutter priority mode, auto ISO, good light and a mirrorless cameras with a tilt, swivel screen is really good!

■ Gain expertise in exposure compensation in white bright beach scenes, in focussing points and focus tracking modes.

■ About RAW, ISO, white balance, shutter speed, bracketing, depth of field.

■ How to shoot action in perfect beachside location with sand, sea and sky.

■ Lens selection & perspective, freezing and showing motion, focusing modes.

■ Composition and lighting including reflectors and flash.

■ No previous photography experience is required

■ A digital DLSR, mirror-less, compact or smartphone

■ For DLSR and mirror-less camera users, at least one multi range lens

■ Smartphone camera users are welcome - smartphones deliver high quality results

■ Memory Card(s) - at least a 4GB card

■ You need to know about exposure compensation in white bright beach scenes, about focussing points and focus tracking modes.

■ Expertise: this one day course has been created by Andrew & Serena who have trained tens of thousands of students through their dog and wildlife Photography courses running in throughout Australia. They are also authors of the worldwide selling Online Wildlife and Nature Photography course. Andrew & Serena have racked up dozens of countries shooting wildlife and running wildlife photography courses. The technique fro shooting running wild dogs and a leopard is the same as shooting your dog.

How many people will be on my course?
■ A maximum of 4 persons for a highly personalised learning experience. This ensures plenty of one on one attention.
■ However we do cater for larger groups bringing in other tutors and splitting the groups into teams. Talk to us about your special requirements such as a 'team building' Dog Photography course for a government organisation, company, your dog club and for private groups

What happens if it's raining?
■ We do not give refunds for inclement weather but will give you a gift voucher and schedule another day. Gift vouchers are valid for a full 2 years and can also be used towards a private pet shoot.

■ We also offer a 'repeat for free' weather guarantee. Join the course anyway. If the weather is really bad we will do 30 minutes and you then receive a gift voucher to come back at another time. If we call the course off you can 'gift' your credit voucher to a friend or whomever

Do I have the right camera gear for this course?
■ In your detailed notes you receive upon booking- we give lots of recommendations on the best camera gear, camera bag and accessories to consider for wildlife and dog photography

■ Any full or cropped frame DSLR camera, mirrorless camera, quality compact or smartphone is ideal to do this course. Full frame cameras with their bigger sensors will give better results if for instance you want to have your dog as wall art or to crop in a shot. Mirrorless are fantastic for low down shots and super fast focus tracking. We love our compact RX 100 Sony compact. Perfect for high speed shooting and its compact! Fits in your short pocket.

■ A mid range lens eg 24-105mm or 28-70mm is ideal. Bring all your lenses . We can advise on the best ones to achieve different results.

■ You can use a newish smartphone with excellent imaging capabilities for everything. They excel for Panoramic shots video clips, slo mo and the best imaging device to capture spontaneous shots. The best camera is the one which is always with you - your smartphone.

Can I rent a camera? Buy SD cards?
■ Yes - we have cropped DLSR Canon and Nikon Cameras for rent. The fee is $50. Your rental camera will have a standard 18-55mm lens ( or equivalent)
■ Quality 32GB SD cards are available for purchase for $25 per card (or bring your own SD card)

Is it possible to purchase some of the images taken by Serena or Andrew on the day?
■ Yes- we sell the high resolution images suitable for printing at $30 per file. All the low resolution images taken by Andrew or Serena and the other course members are freely distributed via Airdrop at the end of the course

Is there a discount if I want to come back again?
■ Yes- we give you a $50 gift voucher to use towards any other Focus 10 course
